MD's Democrat Congressional Representatives Vote "Yes" on Energy Tax; Cap and Trade Legislation a Job-Killer
Maryland’s Democrat Congressional Representatives Vote “Yes” on Energy Tax
Cap and Trade Legislation is a Job-Killer
Last night, all seven of Maryland’s Democrat congressional representatives voted to increase taxes on Maryland’s citizens.
“By supporting cap-and-trade, Frank Kratovil, Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Donna Edwards, Steny Hoyer, Elijah Cummings, and Chris Van Hollen have effectively hiked taxes on every one of Maryland’s taxpayers, something they have in common with Governor Martin O’Malley,” said MDGOP Chairman Jim Pelura. “Not only will this bill make the cost of energy skyrocket for our citizens, the legislation is an attempt to directly influence and punish the behavior of law-abiding businesses. It’s a strike against the ability of businesses to grow, and will actually punish productivity and kill jobs.”
“Perhaps the worst thing is that this bill will have little to no positive impact on the environment. The Obama/Pelosi/Reid team is attempting to dictate to Marylanders and Americans how every part of their life should be lived, and so-called ‘Blue Dog’ Democrats like Frank Kratovil and Dutch Ruppersberger turned into lap dogs for Nancy Pelosi,” Chairman Pelura said. "I commend Congressman Bartlett for standing up to this outrageous legislation," concluded Pelura. “Voters are outraged and this will not be the last everyone hears about the energy tax.”
